Students who volunteer can apply for local, state and national recognition through The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.
The awards are open to students in grades 5-12 who have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service in the past 12 months. Top honorees earn cash prizes, crystal trophies for their certifying organizations, and an all-expense-paid trip with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C. for the program's annual national recognition events.
Applications are open through November 3, 2015 at http://spirit.prudential.com/ or http://www.nassp.org/spirit. By November 3, students must complete an application and submit it to you their teachers or to the head of a local Girl Scout council, county 4-H group, American Red Cross chapter, YMCA or HandsOn Network affiliate. Certifiers have until November 10 to select Local Honorees and certify their applications for state-level judging. State-level honorees are announced in February.
